Oban Marina has asked all West Highland Yachting Week Competitors to use the Cardingmill hammerhead pontoon and put a donation in the box before arriving at Oban Marina to take up their berth.
Sue Deacon, marina manager said this would help maintain the low water situation at the Marina.
She said: ‘The consequences of a very dry spring and high demand mean that we do not have sufficient water to supply everyone, particularly those with empty boats.
‘We would like to ask boats who are coming to Oban Marina if they could fill up with water at the pontoon at Dungallan across the Bay from Oban Marina. This would really help our situation and we look forward to welcoming the WHYW fleet.’
The pontoon at Dungallan is operated by Oban Bay Community Berthing Ltd. The fee for 30 minutes alongside is £2 and a vessel must make way after 30 minutes if another is waiting to use the landing stage.
