Three Men in a Boat to race

at West Highland Yachting Week!

Three Men on a Boat

ONE ENTRY on the West Highland Yachting Week start line this month will be attracting more attention than most.

Crinan based Ross Ryan’s restored classic 8-metre ‘The Truant’ will be raced on the Craobh to Oban passage by Griff Rhys Jones, Dara O’Briain and Rory McGrath of ‘Three Men In A Boat’ fame. The latest series following the adventures of the three sailing ‘heroes’ will be filmed on the west coast of Scotland.

Keen to compete in West Highland Yachting Week as a unique sailing event, the three intrepid mariners have teamed up with the kenspeckle Truant and will compete in Class 7. Filming will also take place at Crinan aboard the puffer Vic 32. This will be the fifth series of this popular BBC programme and will include other activities in the Oban area including Griff, Dara and Rory competing at the Kilmore Highland Games.

Said Zoe Timmers, associate producer for the series: ‘This year’s Three Men in a Boat is set to be the best yet. We all can’t wait to spend time on the stunning west coast of Scotland – and to see it from the water too is even better. The Three Men have a fair bit of sailing experience behind them now, so hopefully they’ll do well in West Highland Yachting Week.’

The series is due to be aired on BBC2 over the Christmas period.
