The Crinan Canal Water Festival
10am – 5pm Sunday 1st August 2010
British Waterways Scotland wishes to inform customers that the Crinan Canal Water Festival will take place at Dunardry Flight (Locks 9 - 13) on Sunday 1st August and that operational restrictions will apply to transiting craft.
The colourful festival will mark the finale of the £3.1m Heritage Lottery funded Dalriada Project. Since 2006, this successful partnership initiative has made possible a raft of exciting projects to enhance local and visitor enjoyment of the natural and cultural heritage of Mid-Argyll.
British Waterways Scotland apologises in advance for any delays to transit during the event but hopes that skippers and crew will embrace the spirit of the occasion and enjoy what promises to be a memorable day of celebration for the local communities of Mid-Argyll.
Operational Restrictions
These will apply specifically around Dragon Boat racing in the larger basin between Lock 11 and Lock 10.
Craft on passage will be held in Lock 10 or 11 while Dragon Boat races are in progress.
Those travelling through the canal to deadline are strongly advised to clear the Dunardry Flight on Saturday 31st July or, at the very latest, before 10am on Sunday morning. (Transit berthing will be used by the Dragon Boats so it would be extremely helpful if those on passage keep moving through the flight.)
