WHYW interest from all over the UK

Entries for this year’s West Highland Yachting Week from 30th July to 6th August are stacking up with interest from all over the UK.

With a wider range of classes on offer to both CYCA and IRC handicaps, the event has even greater appeal for 2010.

The Joint Regatta Committee that run the event have been tweaking courses for both the Tunnock’s and Argyll Fleets with the Argyll fleet taking in some new marks racing off Tobermory.

Last year’s course proved popular and the course will follow a similar format for this year’s event as will the racing for the Argyll white sail fleet in the Firth of Lorn. Two races are again planned for each day the Tunnocks spinnaker fleet race separately both off Oban and Tobermory. The passage races follow much the same format as previous regattas.

Tobermory Single Scotch Whisky is the newest sponsor for West Highland Yachting Week and the Distillery will be hosting an Open Day on Thursday when the fleet is in Tobermory.

Tunnock’s and the Oban Common Good Fund also sponsor West Highland Yachting Week with support from BP Marine and West Coast Motors.
