T-FARE wins West Highland Yachting Week Window Dressing Competition!

WEST Highland Yachting Week’s famous window dressing competition was won again by Seafare of Tobermory with an imaginative and innovative display that marked the 30th and final sponsorship of Tennent Caledonian Breweries under the banner 'T-Fare Welcomes West Highland Yachting Week'.

With new sponsors onboard this year Roddy Wyness who made up the window with the Seafare team incorporated Tunnock's teacakes, logs and wafers and Caledonian MacBrayne into a pirate ship and ocean creature scene.

The Argyll Fleet, sponsored by Argyll and Bute Council and the Crown Estate were all depicted in the display. There were some hidden clues as to events and characters over the years and the eye-catching window was declared the winner once again by Mary Waltho, judge of the competition for the Joint Regatta Committee.

This will be the fifth consecutive win for Roddy's window dressing of the chandlery shop. Anne Flavell, owner of Seafare said she was delighted and paid tribute to Roddy and the team for their hard work.

Eight businesses entered and Mrs Waltho decided that the high level of competition deserved a second and third prize with the Mull Soap Company winning second and the Mull Pottery third.

She said: 'I was so impressed by the high standard of entries and this was an extremely difficult competition to judge. I thought everyone really made a huge effort and it was a great community contribution to West Highland Yachting Week.'

Seafare has been presented with the silver window dressing trophy which is now in the window display.

The competition is always enthusiastically pursued by Tobermory businesses and will be continued for 2010.
